Why discipline matters more now, not less

When code generation accelerates, discipline is what converts speed into shipped product instead of shipped debt.

There’s a comfortable belief floating around that AI makes engineering discipline optional — that you can vibe your way to a product now. The opposite is true. When producing code was slow, the code itself was a check on the system: you couldn’t ship that much, that fast, so the blast radius of a bad decision was small. Now the blast radius is enormous and instant. The only thing standing between your team and a large, fast-moving pile of plausible-looking wrongness is the discipline you bring to it.

Discipline is what converts speed into shipped product instead of shipped debt.
